Pelvic Health Care That Feels Comfortable, Clear, and Centered on You
Starting pelvic floor therapy can feel vulnerable—but it shouldn’t feel confusing. We’re here to make the process as clear, supportive, and respectful as possible from your first visit onward.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your First Visit
Your first session is all about listening, learning, and creating a personalized plan. We’ll review your medical history, symptoms, goals, and daily activities. You’ll have time to ask questions, express concerns, and get clear on what’s next.
Depending on your needs and comfort level, your evaluation may include:
- Postural and movement screening
- External and/or internal pelvic floor muscle assessment
(only if appropriate and with full consent) - Assessment of breathing, core control, and body mechanics
By the end of your visit, we’ll walk through your care plan together—including what to expect, how often to come, and what progress can look like.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Getting Ready for Your Appointment
What to Bring:
- Completed intake forms (emailed to you in advance)
- Your calendar (to plan follow-up visits)
- Any questions or personal goals you’d like to share
Remember:
- You’re always in control—ask questions, pause, or opt out at any time.
- Everything you share is completely private.
- Our priority is helping you feel safe, respected, and empowered from the start.
WHAT TO EXPECT
What to Expect During Your Plan of Care
Pelvic floor therapy is not a one-visit solution. True healing requires progression, repetition, and guidance.
At Peak Pelvic Health, most patients are seen once per week initially,
with visits tapering as strength and control improve.
Your care follows a structured progression so you always know what we’re working toward.

Why Most Patients Need 6+ Visits
Pelvic floor therapy retrains muscle coordination, strength, endurance, and nervous system patterns.
That process requires progression over time.
Our goal isn’t temporary relief.
It’s lasting change.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
In most cases, no. North Carolina is a direct access state, which means you can see a physical therapist without a doctor’s referral.
Do you take insurance?
Peak Pelvic Health is an out-of-network provider. We will provide you with a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Payment is due at time of service.
How long are appointments?
Initial evaluations are typically 75 minutes. Follow-up visits are usually 60 minutes, depending on your needs.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely. Think yoga pants, leggings, or athletic wear.
Will I have an internal exam?
Only if it’s appropriate—and only with your full, informed consent. Internal exams are never required and are always explained thoroughly beforehand
Do you treat men, children, or LGBTQIA+ patients?
